Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of zerodegrees.me and anything you buy through it. By using the site or creating an account, you agree to them.

"We" and "ZeroDegrees" mean the operator of this site. You can reach us at hello@zerodegrees.me.

1. What ZeroDegrees is

ZeroDegrees publishes educational content and digital materials — written guides, courses we call "tracks", and downloadable files — aimed at people building skills and looking for work without a college degree.

2. What ZeroDegrees is not

⚠️ Read this part properly.

• We are not a school, college, or accredited educational institution.
• We are not an employment agency, recruiter, or staffing service.
• We do not issue degrees, diplomas, licences, or any credential recognised by a government body, licensing board, or employer.
• Completing a track is not a qualification. If we ever issue a certificate of completion, it is a record that you finished our material and nothing more.

3. No guarantee of employment or income

⚠️ This is the important one.

Buying, reading, or completing anything on this site does not guarantee that you will get a job, an interview, a licence, a promotion, or any particular income. We make no promise about your results.

What you get out of this material depends on your effort, your local job market, your existing experience, employer decisions, licensing requirements where you live, and plenty of things none of us control. Any example, timeline, or figure we publish is illustrative — it is not a prediction of what will happen to you, and it is not a promise.

If a claim anywhere on this site reads like a guarantee of a job or an income, treat it as a mistake on our part and this clause as the correct position.

4. Not legal, licensing, financial, or professional advice

Our content is general information. It is not advice and you should not rely on it as the sole basis for a decision.

⚠️ This matters most for anything involving licences and permits. Requirements — including alcohol-server permits, trade licences, certifications, and the ages and fees attached to them — vary by state and locality and they change. We research carefully and cite sources where we can, but:

• We may be out of date.
• You must confirm current requirements with the relevant state board, licensing authority, or regulator before acting on anything you read here.

Where our material touches employment law, tax, immigration, or finance, the same applies: verify it with someone qualified.

Material relating to the service of alcohol is intended for people who are legally permitted to serve alcohol in their own jurisdiction. Nothing in it encourages anyone to work in a role they are not legally eligible for. See §5.1.

4.1 Outbound links and affiliate links

Our material links out to other organisations — state licensing authorities, regulators, and training or certificate providers. We don't control those sites and we're not responsible for what they publish, what they charge, or how they treat you.

Some of those outbound links are affiliate links. That means if you click one and go on to buy something from that provider, we may earn a commission. It costs you nothing extra, and you are never required to use a provider we link to.

⚠️ What that commission does not do:

• It does not affect what we recommend. We link to what we think is worth your time, and we would link to the same things with no commission attached.
• The relevant state authority or regulator is always linked first, and is never an affiliate link. The official source comes before any commercial one, every time.
• Ordering is never influenced by commission. Where we list providers, the order reflects what we think is most useful — never what pays.

Anything you buy from a provider we link to is a contract between you and them, on their terms. Our Refund Policy does not cover it, and §4 still applies: confirm what your own state actually requires before you pay anyone for a certificate.

5. Your account

• You must be at least 16 to create an account.
• Give us accurate information and keep your email address current — it's how we deliver what you buy.
• You're responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your password to yourself, and turn on two-factor authentication if you want a stronger lock.
• Tell us at hello@zerodegrees.me if you think someone else has got into your account.
• One account per person. Don't share credentials.

5.1 Age-restricted tracks

Some tracks cover work that has a legal minimum age where you live. Bartending is the obvious one — most US states require you to be 18 or 21 to serve alcohol.

Those tracks are marked 18+, and before you can start one we'll ask you to confirm you're 18 or over. We take you at your word — we don't ask for your date of birth or any ID, and we don't store either. We record only that you confirmed, and when.

Confirming when you're under 18 is a breach of these terms, and we may close your access to that track. More to the point: age limits on this kind of work are set by your state, not by us, and no course changes them.

An 18+ marker is about the legal minimum age for the job, not about the content being explicit. Nothing we publish is adult content.

6. Buying and access

• Prices are shown at checkout and include what you'll be charged.
• Payment is processed by Stripe. We don't handle your card details.
• Once you've bought a track, you get access to it for as long as we keep operating it, subject to these terms. This is not a rental with a fixed end date, but it is also not an eternal guarantee — see §11.
• Some material is free. Free doesn't mean unlicensed: §7 still applies.
• If we change a price, it doesn't affect anything you've already bought. What you paid for stays yours at the price you paid.

Refunds are covered in our Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.

7. What you can and can't do with the content

You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use what you buy or download, for your own learning.

You may: read it, download it, print it for yourself, and use what you learn however you like — including at work. Skills and knowledge are yours. We claim nothing over what you do with them.

You may not: resell it, republish it, share your account, upload our files anywhere public or private for others to get, or use our material to build a competing course.

We keep the copyright in everything we publish, including the ZeroDegrees name and mark.

8. Acceptable use

Don't attack the site, scrape it wholesale, attempt to reach accounts or data that aren't yours, or use it to break the law. Don't try to defeat access controls on paid material.

9. Chargebacks

If you dispute a charge with your bank rather than asking us for a refund first, we may suspend access to the material in question while the dispute is open, and revoke it if the dispute is resolved against us. Please just email us first — see the Refund Policy.

10. Availability

We aim to keep the site up, and we don't promise it always will be. We may change, suspend, or discontinue parts of the service. If we permanently withdraw a paid track you've bought, we'll give you a reasonable way to download what you paid for, or refund you.

11. Ending things

You can delete your account at any time in your settings. See the Privacy Policy for what happens to your data — note that transaction records are retained for tax purposes.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, particularly §7 or §8. Where it's reasonable to do so, we'll tell you why first.

12. Disclaimers and liability

The site and its content are provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and accuracy.

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything arising out of these terms or your use of the site is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost earnings or lost opportunity.

⚠️ Nothing here excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you're a consumer, you keep your statutory rights, and nothing in these terms overrides them.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is significant we'll email account holders rather than quietly editing the page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA, and the courts located in New York have jurisdiction — except that if you're a consumer elsewhere, you may have the right to bring proceedings in your own country and to rely on your local consumer protections.
